What happens with our data?

GDPR — and, where AI is used, the EU AI Act — are considered from day one. A data processing agreement (DPA) is available on request, hosting is in the EU. Whether and how data is used for model training is settled contractually, on a per-project basis.

Where do you use AI — and where not?

Applied AI works with your connected data model — for dashboard insights, semantic search, and unstructured documents. Not an isolated ChatGPT window, but AI that actually knows your connected data. What isn't needed, we don't build.

We already have an ERP or existing systems — does this still work?

Yes — integration, not replacement. We connect to your existing systems and build the shared data foundation and interfaces on top of them — including AI, wherever it adds real value day to day.

What technology do you use?

Widely used, long-term maintainable standards: PostgreSQL as the database, TypeScript with Next.js and React for the interfaces, hosting in the EU. No exotic dependencies — your system stays operable even without us.

Who owns the system — and what happens if you're unavailable?

Exclusive usage rights to all work product — software, data model, documentation — transfer to you upon full payment (§ 7 of our terms). We hand over the complete source code and documentation, on request directly into your own repository from day one. That's exactly why we rely on widely used standards instead of exotic dependencies: your system stays operable and can be taken over by other developers — even without us.

Do you only work locally in Lübeck?

Lübeck is where we're based, not where we stop. We work with clients across the entire DACH region — remote for the intro call, on-site when it makes sense.

Hi, I'm Junkyung Kim.

I founded The AI Studio – by JK in Lübeck — we work with clients across the entire DACH region. When data is stuck in PDFs, emails, and disconnected tools, we build the internal software that fixes it: data architecture, control dashboards, and AI — as one system, not as separate point solutions.

I'm your dedicated point of contact, from architecture to operations. For delivery, I work with an established network of experienced freelancers — no agency overhead, no rotating teams. I deliberately take on only a few new projects per quarter, so each one gets the attention it needs.

Frequently asked questions before the intro call

So you know what to expect — before you book 15 minutes.

What happens in the 15 minutes?+

You describe your bottleneck, we give you an initial read on what's technically worth doing — and say openly whether and how we can help. No pitch, no slide deck. If it's not a fit, we'll point you toward an alternative where we can.

What company size does this make sense for?+

It's less about headcount, more about complexity: a dedicated internal system starts making sense once several systems run in parallel and someone is moving data between them every day. In practice, that's organizations with roughly 15 to 250 employees. For larger organizations, we work alongside your IT team rather than replacing it.

How long does a typical project take?+

The intro call takes 15 minutes. Module 01 (analysis & concept) usually takes 1–2 weeks. A first usable version typically follows after 4–8 weeks, depending on scope. Ongoing support (Module 03) is optional.

What does it cost — roughly?+

There's no fixed price list, because every project is different. After the intro call, you get a transparent, module-based proposal. As a rough guide: smaller dashboards and internal systems typically start in the low-to-mid five-figure range (EUR), with more complex integrations costing more accordingly. No hidden costs — scope and price are agreed before we start.

What does ongoing support cost?+

Module 03 is optional and runs as a fixed monthly fee with a defined scope — in three plans from €750 to €1,900 per month (details on the support plans page). Basic covers operations and bug fixes; larger changes go through Support or Full Support. Work outside the plan scope: €120/hour, or fixed price for larger extensions. All plans can be canceled monthly.

What if we need more than what's included in the plan?+

Additional hours outside the agreed plan scope are billed at €120/hour — agreed in writing before we start. For larger extensions (a new feature, an additional interface, more than a few hours of work) we instead put together a separate fixed-price proposal, similar to Module 02.
